IBDataWorks does not run under Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature of Microsoft Windows that is used to prevent an application from executing code from a non-executable memory region.

This feature can prevent IBDataWorks from running due to the piracy protection mechanism used by IBDataWorks and will show an error similar to the following:

To allow IBDataWorks to run properly, DEP must be disabled for the application. This can be done by adding IBDataWorks to the DEP exclusion list. To do this, from the Start menu, select Control Panel.

Click "System and Maintenance".

Click "System".

Click "Advanced System Settings" on the left-hand side of the screen.

Go to the "Advanced" tab and click on the "Settings" button under Performance.

Click the "Add..." button and select the IBDataWorks.exe executable from the file selection dialog.

Click "OK" to apply these changes.

IBDataWorks should now run correctly under Vista or Server 2008.
